Tuesday, September 11, 2001

It was a morning like any other. The sky was clear and the sun was shining. I woke up around 6:30 A.M., made coffee and started to work at my computer.

Tuesday, September 11, 2001

I decided to take a break a few of hours later. I had read no email and heard no news, so I was oblivious to what was taking place in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

I walked into the kitchen and turned on the TV (FoxNews), and saw . . . people screaming and crying in disbelief. The World Trade Center Towers were in flames, and a news person was saying that something just hit the Pentagon as well. You can well imagine my reaction; probably much like your own - total disbelief.

Nothing has ever affected me so deeply, and probably never will again. I instinctively hit my knees and started crying and praying. Those poor people. How could anyone do such a thing to so many innocents?

There was no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this was the act of pure evil.

My dearest God, this can't be true -
The Towers, Pentagon, Pennsylvania too?
Who, what, why was this done?
The day is bright and streaming with sun!

As I hit my knees, the tears were streaming
Down my cheeks as I was screaming,
"Oh my Lord, I trust in You.
Please, show your children what to do!"

Then I heard a soft whispering voice,
"Come to Me; make Me your choice.
I want to protect you, but I can't you see
Until you decide to abide with Me."

And as He spoke, the towers fell...
I could feel His sadness, as a silent knell.
"O, Lord please forgive us; all along we knew
That the path we were walking
was abandoning You."

We have an obligation, a duty, as a country and as a people who believe in freedom and all it implies, to fight this kind of hatred and terrorism, wherever it is and whenever it strikes. We cannot allow men like Bin Laden or Hussein to continue terrifying and murdering innocent men, women and children. These monstrosities camouflaged as humans Must Be Stopped! And, by the Grace of God, we are the only nation in the world who can do it.

In history, I can remember only one man who stood alone against evil and was very unpopular with governments and the "Elite" of society. But, regardless of the personal pain and humiliation He withstood, He still knew right from wrong, good from evil, and never wavered. And because of this, He was crucified.

That man was Jesus.

You'll Never Walk Alone
Music by Richard Rodgers
with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, 1945

When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high
An' don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark!

September 11, 2001

Walk on through the wind, walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed an' blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone . . .
You'll never walk alone!

Firefighters working around the clock to rescue the victims of the September 11 Terror attack on the World Trade Center

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone . . .
You'll never walk alone!
